The winner of the 2010 Jerry Allen Courage in Leadership Award is …
Timothy H. Haahs, P.E., AIA
President & CEO of Timothy Haahs & Associates, Inc.
Timothy H. Haahs was raised a in a leper’s colony in South Korea where his father served as missionary pastor, profoundly shaping his view of humanity
Fifteen years ago, Tim spent six months waiting in the hospital for a heart transplant, not knowing that in a few short years, he would need a second one to serve as a better match
Tim started his company in 1994 out of his home garage after recovering from his first heart transplant
A COMPANY WITH A MISSION | TimHaahs was founded with the goal of extending a helping hand to those in need. He realized there is more to life than climbing the corporate ladder and there is a greater purpose for each one of us.
By starting a firm that specialized in the design and construction of parking structures, Tim also risked his fledgling business in an industry that was, at the time, seen as uninteresting and was not particularly sought after by the professionals he needed.
His perseverance paid off - Five years ago, the firm opened its first satellite office in Miami, FL. In 2007, it opened an Atlanta, GA office. And in 2008, an office in New Brunswick, NJ.
TimHaahs has been blessed with rapid growth in recent years, with staff increasing from 21 in 2003 to close to 50 today.
From failing heart, to industry leader, most recently Tim has presented to the United Nations and other international organizations on the global challenge of parking, infrastructure, and sustainable development
