John D. Doehring, Jr. Senior Vice President ZweigWhite
John Doehring is a principal, and managing director, of ZweigWhite's strategic advisory services consulting group. John advises A/E/C, planning, and environmental consulting firm clients on creating and implementing strategic business plans, enhancing sales and marketing effectiveness, building and developing leadership teams, and improving overall organizational performance. He speaks frequently with firm leaders on strategic topics including business strategy, leadership, marketing, business development, project management, and industry outlook and trends. John's audiences have included the ACEC National Conference, SAME Regional Conference, CE News' Best Firms to Work for Summit, Structural Engineers Building Conference, AE Marketing Now Summit, Mergers and Acquisitions Summit, Land Development East and West Conferences, and annual Hot Firm Conference, as well as numerous private client functions. He is a frequent seminar leader for ZweigWhite's In Control (Business Planning), Out Front (Strategic Marketing), and Get Ahead (Business Development) offerings, and is a part of the senior team presenting the firm's flagship training experience, Pathway to Principal. John is a frequent contributor to The Zweig Letter, where he serves as the Strategic Planning Perspectives Editor.
Prior to joining ZweigWhite, John was Vice President of Development and Chief Marketing Officer at Geologic Services Corporation (GSC) – and subsequently GSC|Kleinfelder, Inc. John began his career as a petroleum geologist and later regional environmental manager with Exxon Corporation. He then co-founded the private equity-financed venture Windward Petroleum, Inc. and helped to develop the company into one of the largest and fastest growing petroleum specialty product distributors in the country. He then went on to create Inspiron Dynamics Consulting, where he focused on developing breakthrough sales and strategy improvements through customized consulting and high-impact training.
John holds a B.S. in Geology and a B.A. in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin, and earned his MBA (Management and Marketing) from New York University's Stern School of Business, in New York City. He is a member of SMPS and NSA, the professional National Speakers' Association.
