Presenter Background
This program is presented by Gregory C. Anderson, former CFO and COO of Ellerbe Becket, a highly successful, century-old architecture and engineering firm based in Minneapolis. Greg started his career in a national CPA and management consulting firm, where he specialized in small businesses and the construction industry. Greg has served as Controller, CFO and General Manager in diverse industries such as international distribution, professional services, high-tech and manufacturing. Employees at these firms ranged from several hundred to nearly ten thousand. He joined Ellerbe Becket in 2002 as Chief Financial Officer, when the firm demanded a fresh CFO perspective by seeking candidates from outside of the profession. Greg joined the profession during turbulent times, as the firm and the profession experienced a significant downturn. He took on the added responsibilities of Chief Operating Officer in 2006, and ultimately had a very active role in the turnaround of Ellerbe Becket by implementing programs that incented principals and associates for tightly controlling the relationship of labor costs to revenue, and of course, rigid cost controls. In 2009, under Greg's leadership, the firm's profitability was the highest it had ever been. That same year, Greg and the CEO managed the activities that lead to the successful sale of Ellerbe Becket to AECOM Technologies, one of the very few M&A transactions occurring that year. In 2010, Greg teamed with ZweigWhite as a strategic consultant focusing on A/E/P firm finance and operations. He teaches finance seminars and is authoring a new ZweigWhite finance book to be published in 2011. Greg is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and its Graduate School Executive Program. He serves on a variety of corporate and non-profit boards.
